About this Nominee
Sheri is known in the community as Sheri The Rock Lady, you may have seen her at the Orangevale Farmer’s Market operating free kindness rock painting booth for the children of the Community. She is out there every week, with the help of two volunteers from her family. The initial outlay of materials was provided by Orangevale-Fair Oaks Community Foundation and it is now all maintained through donations. The children love painting rocks for “the kids,” and happily trade them for their water bottle stickers. The rocks are placed at Pecan Park in the Orangevale Rocks Kindness Rock Garden.
You may have seen some of her art around town, as she has donated her time to provide art work at The Orangevale-Fair Oaks Food Bank (the big rock) and a mural depicting our farming legacy, which is now on display at White Fog Farm.
In addition, Sheri has painted and updated some of the little libraries in our parks, particularly at the Orangevale Community Center, Orangevale Community Park and also, at Pecan Park. As part of that upgrade, Sheri started collecting children’s books in the Community and regularly upgrades the contents of the libraries with new books for everyone to read.
