About this Nominee
Helping Hands OV began in the very end of 2019 with something simple—a tired single mom, an overgrown lawn, and one kind neighbor who stepped in to mow it. That small act of kindness sparked a bigger idea: if one simple gesture could bring so much hope, what if neighbors checked on each other more often?
From that moment, Helping Hands OV was born with a clear mission: to connect our community, one hand at a time.
We’re a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit that brings people together to lend a hand where it’s needed most—whether that’s delivering food, creating holiday magic for kids and seniors, or helping with small household tasks that make life easier. Because sometimes, the biggest impact comes from the smallest act of kindness. You don't need a lot to give, you just have to have a lot of heart.
Our focus of lending a helping hand spans past small job help - In 2025 alone we distributed 10,444 Valentines for Seniors and older adults, handed out over 150 Easter baskets for kids in need, gave over 100 bikes, scooters and helmets during the holidays, started our Green Teen Project where teens can lend a helping hand and launched our Scholarships for Blue Collar Trade School. 2025 was a big year and we hope our volunteers have earned your vote - we know they worked hard for it!
